Who is the mother of Rey? |
One of the big questions left by Star Wars The Force Awakens is the parentage of the new heroin Rey, one thing for sure is she is hugely powerful with the force and seems to have some connection with Luke Skywalker.
Many of the Star Wars faithful have come to the conclusion that Luke is her farther, but that still leaves the question of who is Rey`s mother?
Here at Fantasy Space we take a look and list some candidates of who could be her mum. Spoilers Ahead:- 
Mara Jade
At present Mara Jade is not cannon, as the stories she was in have been catorgorized as Star Wars legends. In the stories of legends Mara Jade was the wife of Luke Skywalker and was one of the new Jedi`s in Luke`s new jedi order. She was formerly known as the emperor`s hand and worked as one of Emperor Palpatine most trusted agents and assassins. After the fall of the Empire she became a smuggler that brought her in contact with Luke Skywalker, originally hated by Mara Jade she developed a respect for Skywalker and began training with him, this would eventually lead to their marriage and having a son Ben Skywalker named after Obi-wan Kenobi. It is a far bet that Disney will start to cherry pick characters and story arcs from the legends stories and Mara Jade is a popular character, so would be a good bet they could incorporate her as Rey`s mothers. |
Felicity Jones
We will shortly be seeing the release of the first Star Wars spin off movie Rogue One, that looks like we will see another strong female character take center stage, at present little is known about the part that Felicity Jones will play, except she is likely instrumental in acquiring the plans to the first Death Star. From what we have seen from the Marvel universe we can see how Disney have linked together the different stories and characters together, could they do this with the character Felicity Jones play and make her the mother of Rey.
General Leia
Maybe the whole Luke Skywalker as the farther is a red herring, there is a history of twins in the Star Wars franchise, obviously you have the twins Luke and Leia, you also have the Twins in the old expanded universe which is now legends, Jaina Solo and her twin brother Jacen. Possibly Rey could be the twin sister of Ben Solo, and Leia and Han may have put her into hiding when Kylo Ren and the knights of Ren wiped out the jedi order, this would explain that Rey would have had some early Jedi training and would have had to had a loss of memory. This would also explain the connection she seems to have with Leia at the end of the film after the death of Han Solo.
Rey Kenobi
Some on the internet are thinking that she could be a descendent of Obi Wan Kenobi, possibly granddaughter, this would of course that Obi Wan Kenobi either broke his Jedi vows at the same time as Anakin, else he found love in-between the prequels and the original trilogy, with the Obi Wan Kenobi film a distinct possibility we could see a love interest that could again be brought into the storyline as a whole.
Could Rey be a Clone
Cloning and genetic manipulation is an established science in the Star Wars universe an army of clones was created from Jango Fett, so could it be possible Rey is a female clone of one of either Anakin Skywalker, Ben Kenobi or Luke Skywalker. She was born approximately 12 years after the battle of Endor, maybe she was a science experiment of one of the fallen Empire factions lost on Jakku.
